Turfgrass and Sports Field Management Concentration

The Turfgrass and Sports Field Management concentration offers a well-rounded education on turfgrass species and uses in sports field management and beyond. Students will study the principles of turfgrass physiology, especially under various environmental conditions, as well as design technology including three-dimensional modeling programs. They will also gain a solid understanding of procedures and equipment for propagation, mowing, irrigation, fertilization, aerification, and pest control. Our program offers students a science-based education that prepares them for a lucrative career in management of maintenance operations, ranging from ball fields to soccer fields to golf courses, whether working for an organization or starting their own company. Our students learn right in the field, with hands-on learning and a vast array of possibilities for summer jobs and internships.
